CBR Paediatrics is a specialist paediatric clinic situated at the Calvary Bruce Private Hospital in Canberra. The clinic is overseen by Dr Vijay Wagh – a leading Canberra paediatrician with over 14 years’ experience. Dr Wagh has previously worked as a paediatrician at Canberra Hospital, The Children’s Hospital at Westmead and the Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Adelaide.

As an established Canberra paediatrician, Dr Wagh specialises in newborn and infant conditions, general paediatrics, behavioural and developmental problems, and chronic complex care management. Dr Wagh and his team look after children of all ages – from infants up to 17-year-olds. CBR Paediatrics is a private practice with a genuine interest in children’s health issues.

We provide access to Medicare Easyclaim – enabling processing of the Medicare rebate into your bank account. (Patients must be enrolled with Medicare to access Easyclaim).

We're centrally located in the Belconnen suburb of Bruce (at Calvary Bruce Private Hospital). Ample parking and public transport is available.

We're open Monday to Friday (9:00am to 5:00pm).

In addition, Dr Wagh is a Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) / paediatrician at the Canberra Hospital and the Calvary Public Hospital in Bruce.

Dr Wagh has considerable experience treating both preterm (< 37 weeks) and full-term babies, as well as infant children. Common issues include gastroesophageal reflux, heart murmur, antenatal renal pelvis dilatation and developmental delays.

Patient Journey

Booking & Pre-Visit

  • Call and book your child’s appointment.
  • Complete the online registration form – a link will be sent to your email address to complete the registration form.
  • Please let our team know at least 48 hours in advance if you are not able to attend the scheduled appointment. Last minute cancellations may incur cancellation fees.
  • Ensure you have the following, if applicable:
    • A valid referral letter from your GP
    • A valid Medicare card and payment options
    • Previous reports completed by health professionals, school reports or any other relevant documents

Day of the Appointment

  • Arrive 20 mins prior to your appointment.
  • Complete the online registration form if not previously completed.
  • Please expect a wait time of up to 30 minutes for your appointment.

The Consultation

  • Your Paediatrician will obtain a detailed history and do a thorough physical assessment.
  • You may be required to complete further informal assessments
  • Your Paediatrician may consider a multidisciplinary approach and involve other health professionals, such as an occupational therapist, psychologist or subspecialist (Cardiologist or Gastroenterologist). A multidisciplinary approach is often required for holistic patient management.
  • Appointment times may vary from 15 – 60 minutes, depending on the complexity and /or the number of concerns raised.

Follow up reviews

  • The initial follow up review is usually in 1-3 months
  • Ensure all reports requested from the school and other professionals are available for your follow up reviews.
  • Your Paediatrician will provide a summary report of his findings, including a management plan.
  • Your Paediatrician may arrange for further follow up reviews to monitor your child’s progress.
